Things I am Grateful For

Posted on May 26, 2009 at 11:35 PM

In an attempt to live more positively I am going to try to list five things that I am grateful for.  It's one of those things I should do daily but at this point that is simply unrealisitic so I am going for making the list "several times a week". Here goes:

Today I am grateful for the sunshine.  Right now it is really helping to keep me from sinking into the great abyss.

My parents. This week both of my parents have gone out of their way to be helpful and emotionally supportive and I am very grateful to them.

My grandfather's presence in my life. I am going to miss him immensely even though I didn't get to see him much the last few years.

My cats. I love my three cats.  They are highly entertaining and they love you when you need it most. Plus, they are soft and squishy to pet lol.

My kids.  They can be highly entertaining and they always have a hug when I need one. Too bad they aren't soft and squishy when you pet them lol.

My family's support to pursue the activities I enjoy most and that make me feel more complete as a person.

That's all I can think of tonight. You know, you really do feel a bit better after doing this.  Who knew?!

I am grateful for this wonderful list. What a great idea, and a positive way to start the day. Everyone would benefit by adding this to their routine.

I'm glad you like it. :) It's one of those things I keep coming across in my readings, research, tv viewings, etc. You know, sort of like a hint applied with a sledge hammer that I keep ignoring. The recent deaths of my grandfather and my hubby's favorite great-aunt have really helped put my life into perspective and, when faced with it once again yesterday, I decided it is time to stop ignoring the sledge-hammer . Now let's see if I can just keep it up!
