In anticipation of our upcoming road trip I just could not resist this book. And now I'm glad I didn't resist. I must confess this book is peer twaddle and not particualrly well-written but it is hilarious twaddle. Even my kids are asking me what I am reading because I keep chuckling and laughing outloud as I read. Imagine this: a "spoiled Jewish Princess" stereotype from Long Island traveling, somewhat against her will, in a converted bus for a full year. This is her husband's big dream but once they hit the road the realities of living on the road starts to hit them and the author's recountings of their trials and tribulations are just a hoot. I've been to several of the places that are mentioned and it was quite interesting to read her take on them, plus I've had to add a couple of extra stops to my family's trip based on some of her descriptions. Like most road-trip type books she does reflect on how the experience of travelling with minimal stuff has a positive effect upon both her and her husband. Run to the library and check this book out if you like to read quirky travel logs. Probably not worth buying but definitely worth reading once or twice.

Oops. I forgot to include the author's name. Queen of the Road is written by Doreen Orion.
