I just finished prereading Women's Voices from the Oregon Trail by Susan G. Butruille and I must say that I loved this book. I will be reading bits and pieces of it to the family as we drive down parts of the Oregon Trail. It's an easy read that just gets to you. I had a hard time putting it down. The first part of the book is the author recounting the trip she and her mother took following the Oregon Trail during modern times and contrasting with diary entries from women who were on the original Oregon Trail and the heartbreak this endeavor often brought on. The last part of the book lists places of interest along, and relating to, the historical Oregon Trail as well as the Willamette Valley. A wonderful read for anyone interested in the 1800s or women's studies. | |
