I have spent most of this summer *trying* to read Pocketful of Pinecones by Karen Andreola and I am finally giving up. It isn't a bad book, I just can't get into the storyline. It is so sappy sweet that it makes my teeth hurt. It is also set in a time period that just doesn't interest me much which is probably another reason I couldn't get into it. Folks who like the 1930s and sweet nastalgic stories will probably *love* this book. I'm just not one of them. I do like the last page of each chapter as it include some quotes and the Latin names for many of the plants they see in their nature studies. I like skimming the book for ideas and inspiration but to sit down and read it as a book just isn't going to happen. If anyone read this book and enjoyed it please post about it.

I looked at this at the bookstore. I've read several glowing reviews for this book but the format isn't my style either. I really liked her Charlotte Mason Companion but didn't buy this one. I'd rather start reading parts of the Handbook of Nature Study. Or go fill my own pockets with pinecones.
