If you are looking for a light, yet engaging, historical fiction read I would recommend Washington's Lady by Nancy Moser. It's written from a rather emotional approach, which I am not use to. It is really the story of Martha's life before and with George Washington, from her perspective. It can get a smidge sappy sweet in regards to her relationship with George but it also gives some good insight into the realities of being a women during colonial times. It also made me really think about all the stress and pressure the father of our country had to have been under...something I had never really thought about before. Even though it doesn't have the glorious writing style that fans of CM are use to I found it to be a page turner as it took me only two days to read. This book would also be appropriate for any teen historical fiction fans you may have. In a nutshell, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and it left me wanting to read more factually based biographies of both George and Martha.

Thanks, Gina! Question...would the sappy sweet be enough to put boy teens off, do you think?

I don't think so.The sappy sweetness is just Martha's hero-worship of George and how much she has faith in him regardless of any external evidence to the contrary.
