I like to cook so I liked this movie very much.  What I liked most though was how I could identify with Julia Child.   Julia was a tall woman who really stood out in a foreign country.  She was looking for something meaningful to do besides shop and play the part of a quiet housewife.  She took on cooking school at the Cordon Bleu but also loved the domestic art of cooking for her husband.  She was charming and delightfully imperfect.

She reminded me of what I feel like sometimes with homeschooling.  I feel like I stand out and I'm going against the system to do something I'm passionate about.  I'm not nearly as charming but I am certainly imperfect.  I need to learn to be unapologetic about it like Julia Child was about her mistakes on camera and probably in her life.  When my children embarrass me in public or at friends houses as I know they will, I need to laugh it off and declare that it's all good.

Because, really, all the good ingredients are going into them, right?  I'm putting my heart into teaching them.  Eventually the dish will turn out right....and will BE good even if it doesn't LOOK good.

I wonder if the Julia Child biography is a good read...
