I, Asimov is actually Isaac Asimov's third autobiography.  Unlike the first two, this one is not written as a chronological account of his life.  Instead it is more of a philosophical overview of his life. Luckily, it is a stand-alone book as I have not read his other two autobiographies. One of my favorite aspects of this book is reading his thoughts on writing and getting a bit of an insiders look into the sci-fi world and it's history. There are several "gems of wisdom" from this book that I have felt inspired to share with my children and it is now required reading for my teen (a sci-fi and Asimov fan). Another benefit of this book is that he tells about the writing of many of his books, some of which I did not know existed, so now my reading wish list is even longer.  He also writes about his cohorts in the science and science fiction worlds which would provide a lovely reading list for any sci-fi fan.  I'm not sure if everyone would enjoy this book but I sure have!

For anyone who's interested, you can download free pdfs of some of Asimov's works here (scroll down):

The site also has lots of other great works to check out. It was recommended to me by Sandra of New Zealand, to whom I will be eternally grateful :)

Wow, that is a great resource!  My daughter is already planning on reading some of the children's literature from it. Think I'll add it to our Free Literature Resources area on the links page so it'll be easier for people to find. Thanks for posting this!!!
