In another section of the forum Heather had asked what we moms were reading for our own pleasure. I encourage everyone to post what they are currently reading and their recommendations here.

I just began The Emancipator's Wife: A Novel of Mary Todd Lincoln.  So far it is an interesting read.  I don't really know much about her so I'll have to check into how historically accurate it is but I am liking the author's style. I am only a few pages into Karen Andreola's Pocketful of Pinecones.  This is one of those books that I seem to be perpetually starting but getting distracted from.  I'll let you know if I ever finish it lol.

Oooh, I want to read Pocketful of Pincones. =)

I just picked up and started:

Eleanor Roosevelt Volume 1 by Blanch Weisen Cook

Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin

Trail of Crumbs by Kim Sunee

Vanishing Acts by Jodi Picoult (I liked My Sister's Keeper)

and Sense and Sensiblity by Jane Austen which I probably won't get to this over the summer.

I have to admit that I cheated and read the young adult version of Three Cups of Tea.  I think my son read the adult version lol. I tried starting it three times this winter but life kept getting in the way.  I think we are going to use it as one of our "life literature" studies this year.  The girls will do the young adult version as a read aloud and Bassman and I will (finally) read the adult version with Drakon. It is a very inspiring story. Have to admit that I have a penchant for books about that part of the world.  Always have.

I loved Three Cups of Tea - truly inspiring.

Upon someone's suggestion from one of the yahoo groups, I picked up Kingfisher Days from the library and read it in 2 sittings - it's very easy to read, quite short, but very, very delightful.  I laughed, I cried, and it made me smile a lot.

If you have the chance, pick up up for a quick, easy, fun read - perfect for almost any time - camping, in the canoe, waiting at a doctor's office, on the bus, anywhere.

I am also in the middle of Mind Power for Children, which essentially, follows the law of attraction.  It is also an easy read, but really makes you think about the things you say and think.
