If your kids are between the ages of 6 and 11, then you may want to read book #3 of the original series, School Education: Developing a Curriuclum. It is in this book that Ms. Mason speaks the most about Masterly Inactivity and how to choose and use great quality books. Again, if the original series is overwhelming look to the "plain English translations" found at Ambleside Online or in Penny Gardner's CM Study Guide. The ebook version is a secularized version of her original nonsecular book. I forget if it was Catherine Levison or Karen Andreola, but one of them recommended reading the books from the original series whose titles end in "Education". I would second that recommendation as, I too, find those to be the most helpful of the series.

You have read my mind. I am almost finished with Vol. 1. I was just thinking I'd like to read more CM this summer. I also have a big stack of pleasure reading too but might cut back to read more CM. Since you mentioned Developing a Curriculum in Vol. 3, I think I'll do that next. Thanks for the tip.

One of our members, Misti, creates her own curriculum for her 5 or 6 yo so you may also want to ask her for any "tips of the trade". She also has some great info that you can access via her blog, which is listed on the members' page.
