"...give them opportunity and direction, and children will do the greater part of their own education, intellectual, aesthetic, even moral, by reason of the wonderfully balanced desires, powers, and affection which go to make up human nature." p. 71-72 Parents and Children. This quote really struck me as I was reading through bits of CM's volume #2. I'm thinking this quote may be why many people think she was an unschooler (which I do not think she was, she was far too structured for modern unschoolers). How do you all interpret this quote? | |
