"Knowledge is not instruction, information, scholarship, a well-stored memory.  It is passed, like the light of a torch, from mind to mind, and the flame can be kindled ar original minds only. Thought we know breeds thought....and out of our ideas comes our conduct of life." p. 303, A Philosophy of Education.

Hmmm.  I find this quite interesting as it seems to fly in the face of how our schools, and even some other homeschool philosophies, define knowledge and education.

And what better way to pass on knowledge than by someone who loves the child.  Love can light that torch faster than anything IMO.  I just love Charlotte Mason.  She's my hero.  "Thought we know breeds thought..."  When it really gets going and you see their wheels turning, it's amazing to watch.  This is why I love to teach my children.  It's like watching their first steps, you don't want miss it.
