Secular Charlotte Mason

I am the mother of three wonderful children living in Philadelphia, PA.  Our children have been home educated since their birth.  Our eldest daughter is 6, our son is just 4, and the baby of the family (who is a tyrant and rules with an iron fist) is an 18 month old girl.  We thouroughly enjoy homeschooling (most days).  My husband and I decided to follow this road even before their birth, and we have never looked back.

Charlotte Mason's philosophy really resonates with my family, especially her respect for the child as a person.  I am always perplexed when parents do not show respect for their own children, yet they expect it from them.  Personally, I think my kids have some of the best ideas that have ever come about in the history of mankind (okay, I may be a little partial).

I am also an artist, struggling to find some time inbetween homeschooling and household tasks to get some creation happening.  Yes, I'm a bit selfish.  But my soul needs it!

I hope to find some friendship and inspiration here.  This can be a lonely journey, and it is always a great pick me up to here that others are in it for the long haul as well.
